October Trip to Sequoia National Park

In October we drove 5+ hours north to visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks for a long weekend. We stayed at an established lodge inside the park where all meals and activities for the kids were provided. From there it was a short drive to revel in the fall colors of the dogwoods and sumacs dropping their leaves and to marvel at the size and scale of the massive sequoia trees.

On this trip, we discovered that Toby was a fearless rock climber and that he would happily hike for 3+ miles (albeit at a toddler's pace). We also discovered that Joshua was a natural at archery (the lodge provided two hour lessons) and that he preferred Candyland and ping-pong to long walks in nature. Though both boys were admittedly delighted by an evening walk with our flashlights to peer at stars, look for soaring bats, and listen for sounds of wildlife. . . .
